A little bit about us

Janet Blakeley, M.A.  I hope someone thinks to write in my obituary, "Always trying to catch a glimpse of God." That's the aspect of my life that ties everything else together -- studies, travel, marriage, raising children, friendship, church work, music and -- the most enriching experience of all -- spiritual direction. Following a life rich in experiences, relationships and education, I became an associate at the Center for Religious Development (CRD) in Cambridge, Massachusetts. With a certificate in spiritual direction from CRD and an M.A. in Clinical/Pastoral Counseling from Emmanuel College, Boston, I came to Maine to help open Living Water Spiritual Center in Winslow. I continue to see people for spiritual direction there and at the United Methodist Church, Auburn. I share a home in Lewiston with Sally Brochu and two of my grandchildren, Dakota Rose (14) and Caleb (13). Believing that God is in all things, I continue trying to see.

Klara Tammany, M.Ed. My vocation has always been grounded in the life long connection between faith and life. I currently express that passion in the social work field as a Parent Educator doing home visits with families, and through a ministry of spiritual direction. I hold an MEd in Religious Education as well as a Post Master's Certificate in the study of Spirituality from the Institute of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry at Boston College. I have previously served in the Episcopal Church as a mission volunteer, as a parish catechist and a diocesan education coordinator. I am the author of the book Living Water: Baptism As a Way of Life (Church Publishing, 2002) and recently contributed essays to the magazine "Faith@ Work." On the side, I volunteer locally at a Hospice House and a drop in center for women called The Center for Wisdom's Women. I am active at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lewiston, where I am part of the music ensemble and from time to time offer my skills as a biblical storyteller by telling the Gospel lesson. I also serve on the board of the Funeral Consumer Alliance of Maine with a focus on assisting people with home funerals and natural burial. I live in Auburn with my bouncy little poodle named Doodle and a cat called Francesca. In my spare time I’m fixing up an old house, and I love to sing, swim, kayak and read (especially in the hammock at camp in the summer).

Pamella Starbird Beliveau. It is my delight to meet people where they are at spiritually and encourage them on their faith journeys by creating a safe and sacred space for individuals, couples, or groups to explore their spirituality and their relationship with their Maker. I offer workshops in meditation, finding what is holy in the ordinary, and discernment of spiritual gifts. Currently, I am engaged in graduate coursework in pastoral ministry and spirituality at Boston College. I am an enthusiastic advocate for women, children, and families in the Lewiston/Auburn community. I am blessed to be associated with The Center for Wisdom’s Women in Lewiston where I offer individual and group spiritual direction. I am also the former Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care and am a member Lewiston Public Library Board of Trustees. I live in Lewiston with my husband of 18 years, Rene, and our two teenage daughters, Megan and Sylvia.

How We Define Spiritual Direction

“Reverent, loving, truthful companioning of another who wishes to share the spiritual journey." ~ Janet

“Watching, wondering, weaving, waiting... Sharing in the work of the soul, while searching together for the sacred in the ordinary of everyday life.” ~ Klara

"For the purposes of glorifying God and uplifting God’s people, spiritual direction is compassionate and tender listening to the sacred stories and inner wisdom of others in order to affirm them on their spiritual journeys and reflect back to them their own insights of God’s presence in their lives .” ~ Pamella

We hold ourselves to the ethical standards set forth by Spiritual Directors International. www.sdiworld.org
