"Nourishing the Spirit"

Dear Friends,

We hope you are enjoying these lovely spring days as the new buds and blossoms remind of us God’s abundant life-giving blessings.

As you may recall, here at Movable Feast we have been discerning becoming a non-profit organization in order to solicit grants to help cover the cost of quality speakers for enrichment programs for spiritual directors. We have decided to suspend these efforts as the expenditure of becoming a tax-exempt agency is costly, not to mention the riskiness of such a venture in these economic times.

What is exciting for the three of us, however, is that we have each recognized our energies being drawn to other areas, leading us to move into new territories.

Pamella will maintain the Movable Feast e-mail and postal contacts lists and will continue to advertise spirituality centered programs and services through the e-mail list as long as the interest in this service remains. She also anticipates publishing the 2nd issue of the Maine Directory for Spiritual Directors in 2011.Watch for her new website announcing these services. Pamella has recently become an associate of the Northeast Guild for Spiritual Formation as a spiritual director and retreat leader, and she has also agreed to sit on the Board of Directors for the Guild. www.northeastguild.org. Pamella continues to see people for individual and group spiritual direction and can be reached at 207-783-4148.

Klara has found her new calling at the Center for Wisdom’s Women – a drop in center that serves as a sacred and safe place to support and empower women. The center functions as a collaborative of women who work together to build community toward the bettering and enriching of their lives. Many of the women who come are the most marginalized and disenfranchised from a neighborhood with over a 40% poverty rate. Klara would love to have you come and visit and support the work about which she is so passionate. For more information see
www.wisdomswomen.org. Klara’s other project is teaching people about the option of self directed funerals. Yes, there are meaningful and legal alternatives to the funeral home route. See www.lastthings.net

Having hoped to offer support and fellowship to spiritual directors in Maine, Janet mourns the closing of Movable Feast. She notes, however, that today there are far more spiritual resources in the state than there were ten years ago. The ever-expanding offerings of Living Water Spiritual Center (www.retreatinmaine.com), the newer retreat house, thrilling presenters, retreats and centering prayer groups of the Northeast Guild for Spiritual Formation, the many smaller retreat houses that are springing up – all offer the enrichment needed to nourish directors’ hearts. Life goes on!  Janet continues her ministry of directed retreats and spiritual direction in the Lewiston-Auburn and Winslow-Waterville areas.

Shalom,

Janet, Klara, & Pamella
